About Dr. Donald W. Welch

Dr. Welch is the founder and chairman of Enriching Relationships, Inc., an organization committed to enhancing  relationships through practical application of biblical truths and respected research. He has been counseling couples, families, and individuals in various settings for over twenty years. Along with being a published author, he is a versatile and accomplished communicator who speaks about relational issues at conferences, churches, retreats, and seminars throughout the United States. He has led a number of benevolent teams around the world distributing food and constructing buildings.

Download PortraitDr. Welch is in private practice as a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Kansas and has worked as a family therapist staff member at Charter Behavioral Health System of Kansas City, a psychiatric hospital once located in Overland Park, Kansas. Dr. Welch is happily married and he and his wife have two young children.

As an ordained minister in the Church of the Nazarene and a full-time Professor of Christian Education and Family Studies at MidAmerica Nazarene University, in Olathe, Kansas, Welch is skilled in premarital and ongoing communication skill building. Dr. Welch is capable of providing keen insights into the complexities of conflict management, parent and teen and child communication enhancement, improving relational interactions within couples' relationships, and family systems. Welch currently heads MidAmerica Nazarene University's Department of Christian Education and the popular Youth and Family Ministry bachelor's degree program where young men and women are being prepared to assist families with this century's impending challenges. Dr. Welch received the Gamma Epsilon Donald S. Metz award for Distinctive Academic Contributions (Teacher of the Year) at MidAmerica Nazarene University. For a number of years, he was chairman of the Division of Management and Human Relations at the University where he led a degree program focused on developing relationships in leadership and management. He is included in Who's Who Among America's Teachers, International Who's Who of Professionals, and Outstanding Young Men of America.

Dr. Welch’s credentials are as follows: The B.A. and M.A. from Point Loma College in San Diego, California; an M.Div. from Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri; the M.S. in Family Therapy from Friends University in Wichita, Kansas; the Ph.D. in Education from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas; and licensure and certification as a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Kansas. He is a Diplomate in Psychotherapy in the American Psychotherapy Association, a Certified Human Behavior Consultant, a Clinical Member and supervisor candidate in the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, a member of the Kansas Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, and a member of The Christian Association for Psychological Studies.
