Dear Pastor:

September 18, 2017

For the last 11 years I have had the privilege of serving Pastor Jim Garlow as Skyline’s Counseling Pastor.  But I also run a non-profit professional counseling organization, Center for Enriching Relationships, (CER), considered San Diego's oldest and most comprehensive professional Christian counseling center.  We are equipped with over 30 psychotherapists and partner with Point Loma Nazarene University's Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling while serving over 20 San Diego CER sites (check out the map here!).

Our services may greatly benefit you, your family, and your staff.  We offer comprehensive professional Christian intensive counseling for pastors and their families.  As an ordained minister and former lead pastor, a veteran full-time university religion department professor of Christian education and family studies (14 years), and an adjunct clinical psychology professor at Friends University, Azusa Pacific University and Point Loma Nazarene University for the past 28 years combined, my heart is dedicated to serving you and the local church.

LifeWay Research on 734 former pastors defines why pastors burn out:
40% described "change in calling,"
25% because of "conflict,"
19%  define "requirements of the position,"
12% due to "finances," and
12% "because of family issues."

Ed Stetzer of the LifeWay Research states: Almost half of those who left the pastorate said their church wasn't doing any of the kinds of things that would help.  Having clear documents, offering a sabbatical rest, and having people help with weighty counseling cases are key things experts tell us ought to be in place.

The Center for Enriching Relationships is committed to serving you and your family.  For years, we have provided intensive counseling services to pastors and missionaries from around the globe.  CER is here to help you.  Please feel free to explore our website for biographical information and qualifications on our staffour board, and our therapists

Call our CER main office in Mission Valley at 619-858-3105 or contact our Office Manager, Denise Ammann, with the form below to indicate your further interest in our ministry to you and your family and staff members.  We’ll shortly get in touch with you.   I have carved out five hours per week in my professional therapy practice to work with pastors and families.  We’re truly eager to make you more effective in your personal relationships and at leading your church.
